Pullover Sweater for Me
My Mom taught me how to knit when I was 6 years old, So, I've been knitting for almost 54 years, probably seriously knitting for the last 30 years.
I've made dozens of baby sweaters and hats and dozens of blankets and afghans. I've made lots of hats and scarves for myself, but I've never an entire sweater for myself. I attempted to to knit sweaters for myself, but I ended up ripping them completely out and re-purposing the yarn for something else.
The pattern is by the Brown Sheep Co. and it's called the Knit and Purl Sampler Pullover. I think that I bought for $6 back in 2004 or 2006, but once I discovered that the sweater had to be knitted in separate pieces and sewn together, I put the pattern aside and never gave much thought about it again. (The pattern is FREE now.)
While looking through my collection of patterns, I stumbled across it and I decided that it was time to step out of my comfort zone and knit this thing!
The knitting was pretty straight forward and it was fun, because the pattern consist of Diagonal Ribs, some Garter St., some Blocks, some Dashes and the Moss St. It kept my interest.
After watching several You Tube Videos on how to conquer the "Mattress Stitch" for seaming; I came across a video that demonstrated how crochet seams together instead of sewing them! (Yes, I know I'm committing heresy and have probably got kicked out of some knitting society somewhere,) But the crocheted seaming worked beautifully for me. I see more sweater knitting in my future.

I used 6 skeins of Red Heart Soft Yarn in Light Gray Heather and Size 7 and 8 needles. Oh, I did a swatch, too! It was spot on (Size 8 needles.)
Looks great, Deb.
